This document is a plan for the development of The Riga Football Academy (RFA) a community Fooball Project in Riga.  This project is to develop professional football players at the top level of competition. We planning to recruit talented players from the elementary schools to the college levels in the country to educate and prepare them to be the best in the world. We think that Latvia has potentiality to be among the top in the sports; the physical strength and the dedication to the game are unique in the world. We know that education is a urgent need specially in technics, mentality, approach, model of the game and style of playing.
The RFA is committed:
  • The main objective of the academy is to offer professional football training sessions  and develop the technical abilities of young players through our programme which will eventually lead them to a successful football career. We recognise that many young players will not achieve this goal; however we will endeavour to improve every player's technical ability. Moreover our academy has set a series of objectives from which every player will benefit to lead a healthy lifestyle and learn the values of practice, punctuality, good communication, manners, hard work, team work and setting goals for the future. We believe in our players and our students believe in their future in the RFA.  Our Programme has the following steps:Structure: Once a youngster has been identified, recruited and registered, he enters our performance programme, which is at the heart of the overall Academy operation and at the forefront of elite young player development.  The RFA is committed to enabling each player to fulfil his potential such as:Physical: strength, speed, flexibility, agility, conditioning and have individual programmes in order to improve.Behavior: Education and conduct on issues within their individual environment. Guidance on areas such as diet and nutrition, alcohol, smoking, time management, gambling, bullying and dealing with the media. Parents are supported and instructed on how to deal with a talented player.Mentality: Mental strength. Goal-settings, motivation, self-confidence, concentration and communication.

                  c. Method: Identifying: We attend matches in Latvia and abroad.
  • Recruiting: We recruit players with potential.
  • Coaching: We all are working using our own methodology.
  • Resourcing: Well equipped training facilities.
  • Maximising: We teach our players the best program allowing them to achieve their full potential by focusing on their physical, psychological and technical development.
  • Retaining or releasing: Progress is our key to success. Keep records of best playersnominat
  • Develop a minimum of one player per season who makes a debut in a competitive game.
d. The Academy will achieve the above by:
  • Maintaining and improving the player support systems.
  • Maximising the financial return on Academy developed players. We have the  Elite Player Development Programme:
  • The players, the staff and the parents. Everyone associated with the RFA understands the role that they play in our Academy.
  • An outstanding learning environment.
  • TheTechnical, Physical, Physiological, Mental, Social and Intellectual.
  • Players from our Academy know what is expected to reach their potential. At the RFA we have a pathway from six years of age to the professional level.
  • Groups are divide by ages:
      6-8 Years - The Age of Fun: Young players are prepared to join 'ŖFA”
      9-11 Years - The Age of Preparation: Basic skills and techniques of the game. At this stage, they fall in love with the game.
     12-16 Years - The Age of Development: Technical and skill work the emphasis switches to problem solving. At this stage players will have an understanding of one or more positions.
  • Players sign for a minimum of six years
  • Academy Scholarship
  • Period of technical, tactical, physical, mental development and competition
  • Players sign an Academy Scholarship - usually for six years
  • Full-time football development with a minimum of 12 hours education per week
  • Academy League programme for matches
  • Preparation for life as a full-time professional
  • The importance of being a winner
  • 18-up First Team Professional Level
